Bōsen-seki

ぼうせんせき
A twelve-mat shoin-style tea room at Kohō-an. The lower half of the veranda screen is left open, framing only the roji with its basin and lantern. Rebuilt after a fire in 1793; an Important Cultural Property.

A tea room at Kohō-an, a sub-temple of Daitoku-ji, designated an Important Cultural Property in 1903 together with the main hall and shoin.

According to the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Bōsen dates from the late Edo period (1751–1829): four bays by three, single-storey, gabled, with a pantile roof.

Kohō-an is generally closed to the public, and no public viewing of Bōsen is offered.
