Shōkō-ken

しょうこうけん
A tea room at Kōtō-in, Daitoku-ji, traditionally linked to Hosokawa Sansai, holding the austere rigor of a warrior–tea master; open on occasion.

A tea room at Kōtō-in, a sub-temple of Daitoku-ji founded by Hosokawa Tadaoki.

Shōkō-ken is a simple two-mat daime room. The grounds also hold a shoin said to have been moved from Sen no Rikyū's residence, and the graves of Tadaoki and his wife Gracia.

Kōtō-in has currently suspended visits; a reopening is to be announced in advance.
