A tea ceremony school in Nishi-Asakusa, Tokyo, open not only to those who want to learn tea but also to those who want a calm space. Besides regular lessons it offers shichijishiki exercises, chaji, Japanese dance classes and events pairing incense listening with tea.
"Chashitsu ZerO" is a small assembly tea room born from students' wish to have a tea room at home. Its assembled size is listed as 160 × 120 × 150 (no unit given) and it weighs 38 kg; it comes with four cardboard walls, two tatami mats, an Echizen washi ceiling, a scroll, a tanzaku and sazare stones, and costs ¥250,000.
Its defining feature is a small 80 cm-square nijiriguchi entrance; the tatami are by Morita Tatami and the cardboard entrance was developed by Masuda Shiki of Fukui. As a flameless incense it uses Awaji Island sazare stones sprinkled with powdered incense. Viewing the real thing can be arranged — suited to those who want an easy space for tea at home or work.
